Wiki Page
I think that the best part of my Wiki page was the paragraph on the Christians, and specifically, Anna Comnena. Also, I think adding color and a table of contents made it look a lot better. I could’ve improved it by having a lot more detail in my paragraph on the most important factor of the Crusades. If I had to do this project over again, I would get a lot more information at the beginning, so that I could have more detailed paragraphs. I liked using Diigo, because it was faster and way more organized then just taking notes on paper. I also liked using the Wiki, because it was easier then writing the whole paper out in an essay form. I didn’t like getting feedback, because I don’t really like having other people read over my work and tell me what I did wrong.

Muhammad book
What I think I did well for the Muhammad book is that I wrote good sized summaries. They had enough detail to get the point across, but didn’t drag on too long. What I would change is that I drew more detailed pictures. Also, I accidentally glued the pages together, and had to pull them apart, so I would have tried not to do that if i did the project again.
What I learned about Muhammad’s influence is that he brought a lot of people to become Muslims. He taught them about God, and how they should live, and ended up with a large group of followers from the Arabian Peninsula. This caused change in the entire world, because more and more people gave up their old ways, and became a part of the Islamic religion.
I think I like doing projects better. Although they can really stress me out, it’s easier for me to learn the information. I think that’s because I can constantly look in the book for more and more information, instead of having to learn it all at once, and then recall it later in a test.

Expedition: Time Travel
Attention everyone! Danielle here…I’m here to tell you all about how to survive in the Arabian Peninsula in the year 600 C.E. How would I know this, you may ask? I time traveled back in time to there, and learned all about it!
If you’re planning to stay in the desert, just know it’s really really hot!!!! I would’ve died from heat stroke, if some locals hadn’t given me advice. For one, they told me you should always wear loose fitting clothes. It cools you down, even just a little bit. To keep out the bugs, dust, and heat, you should also wear either a hat or a headdress. Another thing you need to get when in the desert is a camel. They can carry your belongings everywhere, and go days without water. Speaking of camels….animals are important in the desert, because they provide wool/hair, food, and are a popular trading item. Keep that in mind when you need any of that.
The oases in Arabia are a much different environment from the deserts. To get water, you will want to dig wells. Date palms are one plant you will need a lot of…They provide shade and food. Trading is also a great way to get items you need, and don’t have.
Coastal plains are an environment of their own. Farming is the way to get food there. For water, you would need to build dams and irrigation systems. Those are always very helpful, as I learned from experience. Although it seems pretty useless, tree sap is important too. It is very good when used to make medicines and perfumes.
The final area in Arabia is the mountains. If you’re planning to build a house there, mud bricks are HIGHLY suggested to be used for your structure. For your food needs, you can build a terrace to farm on. You might also want to build some irrigation systems, and dams, just like in the coastal plains.
Overall, there are a lot of different things you need to know to survive in the many environments of the Arabian Peninsula. Some of these tips may seem silly, but take it from someone who knows a lot about this area….Listening to these ideas will really help you live and thrive in Arabia.

Letter to Parents
Dear Mom and Dad,
This trimester, I have definitely learned a lot. In SS, we learned all about Europe during the Middle Ages, the Hundred Years War, and the Black Death. In math, we were taught a lot of vocabulary words, more on graphs and fractions, LCM and GCF, and we have just begun pre-algebra. In LA, we now know how to brainstorm, find “yellows” (ideas) for our papers, and how to comprehend a book. In science, we learned how to take A LOT of notes, and about the Grand Canyon. I think I’ve done pretty well in all my classes, because I turn in almost all of my work on time, and rarely had missing assignments. What I want to do differently the next trimester is manage my time better, and study more, so I’m not up until really late the night before cramming it all in.
Thanks!!!
Love, Danielle

Wiki research project
Over this past week, I’ve learned a lot about the Black Death. Also, besides that, I learned about citing sources, making inferences from what I already know, searching with key words, taking good notes, and summarizing.
It was actually fun to use a Wiki. It gave us some freedom of how we make our research project look. It was a simple website to use, and not confusing. Overall, in my opinion, it was a good way to do a project.

Unfair Rules
There are a few rules at SMS that I don’t think are fair. One rule is the no hugging rule. I mean, I honestly don’t understand what’s wrong with hugging a friend you haven’t seen for a while, or something like that. The 2nd rule I think is unfair is the no pajamas rule. As long as it follows school rules, I don’t get why pj pants are any different than wearing sweats. I mean, there’s not much of a difference between the two!!! As one student, I wouldn’t be able to change anything, but if I got a bunch of people to, let’s say…sign a petition and talk to the principal about it, then something MIGHT be done.

Church Poem
1) What I did best on the church poem was finding pictures that relate to the topics I talked about, because that was the easiest part for me.
2) If I could do the project over again, I would add a border, so it would look better, and draw a better “T” so it would show that I put more effort into it.
3) The most helpful learning tool was the textbook and the word bank, because both gave me ideas and information.
4) I want Mr. T to know that I learned a lot from this project.

Howthemarketworks
On Howthemarketwords.com, I have bought stock in Abercrombie&Fitch. It’s gone up a little, and I’ve gained a little money, so I’m happy about that. Hopefully it’ll stay like that or go up even more!
